Platfform Haf

In Summer 2022, Platfform Haf brought together a group of eight young people to make, share, listen and imagine with artists, writers, geologists and activists. Gathering around ways of thinking about climate change, hope, power and collective making, the group explored kinship in nature, personal climate languages, deep time, resources of hope and how we carry questions for the future.

Yn ystod haf 2022, daeth Platfform Haf â grŵp o wyth o bobl ifanc at ei gilydd i greu, i rannu, i wrando ac i ddychmygu gydag artistiaid, awduron, daearegwyr ac ymgyrchwyr. Gan ymgynnull o gwmpas ffyrdd o feddwl am newid hinsawdd, gobaith, grym a chyd-feddwl, archwiliodd y grŵp berthynas ym myd natur, ieithoedd hinsawdd personol, amser dwfn, adnoddau a gobaith, a sut rydyn ni’n cario cwestiynau ar gyfer y dyfodol.

The programme was hosted at Platfform 2 - a site we believe has great potential for bringing together different voices and languages to think differently about futures in Wales - as part of Casgleb, a year-long research and development project in collaboration with artists and young people, hosted by Peak and Transport for Wales at Abergavenny Train Station.

Cynhaliwyd y rhaglen ym Mhlatfform 2 – safle sydd â llawer o botensial ar gyfer dod â gwahanol leisiau a ieithoedd at ei gilydd i feddwl yn wahanol am ddyfodol yng Nghymru – fel rhan o brosiect ymchwil a datblygu Casgleb, sy’n rhedeg dros flwyddyn mewn cydweithrediad ag artistiaid a phobl ifanc, ac a gynhelir gan Peak a Trafnidiaeth Cymru yng Ngorsaf Drenau’r Fenni.

Platfform Haf was open to anyone aged 18-25 living within one hour of Abergavenny, and through an open call process supported by young people who have previously taken part in Peak’s programmes, the selected group was: Robin Eaton, Felix Stevenson-Davies, Chloe Winder, Penelope Gammon, Saskia McKay, Izzy McLeod, Aisling Edwards and Ffion Williams. The artists, writers, geologists and activists who contributed to the programme were: Jess Tanner, Durre Shahwar, Cerys Scorey, Angela YT Chan, Heledd C Evans, Gwenllian Spink, Sion Marshall Waters, Rory Pilgrim, Taylor Edmonds, Alan Bowring.

Roedd Platfform Haf yn agored i unrhyw un rhwng 18 a 25 oed sy’n byw o fewn awr i’r Fenni, a thrwy broses galwad agored gyda chefnogaeth pobl ifanc sydd wedi cymryd rhan yn flaenorol yn rhaglenni Peak, y grŵp oedd: Robin Eaton, Felix Stevenson-Davies, Chloe Winder, Penelope Gammon, Saskia McKay, Izzy McLeod, Aisling Edwards a Ffion Williams. In Autumn 2022, a small group of Casgleb collaborators came back together for a programme of workshops, gatherings and walks to reflect on our work together this year and explore future threads of conversation. We invited the young people who took part in Platfform Haf to submit proposals for this Autumn programme and the two selected proposals, supported by the Peak team, a fee and production budget, unfolded through: / Yn hydref 2022, daeth grŵp bach o gydweithredwyr Casgleb yn ôl at ei gilydd ar gyfer rhaglen o weithdai, cyfarfodydd a theithiau cerdded i fyfyrio ar ein cydweithrediad eleni, ac i archwilio ffrydiau ar gyfer sgyrsiau’r dyfodol. Gwahoddon ni’r bobl ifanc a gymerodd ran ym Mhlatfform Haf i gyflwyno cynigion ar gyfer rhaglen yr hydref eleni, a datblygodd y ddau gynnig a ddewiswyd, gyda chefnogaeth tîm Peak, ffi a chyllideb gynhyrchu, drwy:

Deep Time Walk & Casting Workshop with Chloe Winder and Alan Bowring

For Young People 18 - 25, Saturday 22 October, 11am - 4pm, Platfform 2

Proposed by Chloe Winder and inspired by Alan Bowring’s talk in the Platfform Haf programme on landscape, geology and time (Alan is the Geologist for the Brecon Beacons National Park), we collaboratively hosted a deep time walk and casting workshop. Taking a slow, 2 mile circular route between Abergavenny Station and the river Usk, we collected objects as we walked and talked about time, landscape and memory, plaster-casting our collections at Platfform 2.

Zine Making Workshop with Ffion Williams and Felix Stevenson-Davies

For Young People 18 - 25, Wednesday 26 October, 3pm - 4:30pm, Platfform 2

Proposed by Ffion Williams and Felix Stevenson-Davies, and inspired by Angela YT Chan’s workshop on personal climate languages, we hosted a zine making workshop exploring how we feel about climate change, hope and the future across collage, making and discussion.
