Processions

2018

Peak was one of 100 UK arts organisations commissioned to take part in the landmark Processions project, a mass participation artwork to celebrate one hundred years of votes for women. This project was conceived and organised by Artichoke. One hundred women artists worked with communities to create 21st century suffrage banners for Processions in Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast and London on Sunday 10 June.

We hosted workshops with artist Bettina Reeves for local women to make artwork for this event and we were pleased to have been chosen as the banner group to lead the Cardiff Procession. Congratulations to all the groups, organisations and individuals throughout the UK who took part in this historic occasion. Sincere thanks to the women of our Processions group, lead artist Bettina Reeves and Seren Fenoulhet.

About the artist

Bettina Reeves has extensive experience as a theatre designer with companies in Wales and London and as a lecturer at the Welsh College of Music and Drama. She has collaborated with Peak (formerly Arts Alive Wales) for several years, notably on the Abergavenny Food Festival market hall installations and the Dreamscape for Nevill Hall Hospital.

Bettina loves to combine her love of textiles, puppetry and sculptural elements in her work. As a WCMD lecturer, she took enormous pleasure in sharing her skills – and her experience of travelling in India, China and Tibet – with her students, especially in the annual Fashion Show and Puppetry in Performance projects. https://www.bettinareeves-designer.co.uk
